We celebrated Andrea's birthday last week. As always, Tom's sister sent us a beautiful remembrance of Andrea along with a photograph of the tree they planted in her honor 15 years ago. What a stunning, vibrant tribute to our daughter!
I spent the day going through Andrea's baby book--something I've avoided looking at since her death. It was to be my gift to her: A carefully prepared volume so that she would know the story of her first years. It brought her unique being back ... I miss her.
Kiss the stars and hug yourself
And sleep in the bosom of your own endless song
--Andrea, 19 , the last stanza of a poem (pg 107-108)
